Mara Sopa Lodge | mara

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their centre.

The lodge has fifty guest cottages divided into two wings to either side of the main public areas. Each of these house two spacious guest rooms with queen and king size beds; mosquito nets; electronic safes; dressing tables; en-suite bathrooms and sheltered verandas that all have views over the gardens and the game reserve beyond.

Six of the cottages each contain two suites with larger bedrooms and bathrooms, and both indoor and outdoor seating areas. In addition to all of the above, the honeymoon suite has an extremely large, luxuriously appointed bedroom with a king size bed; dressing table and indoor seating area. Its lavishly appointed bathroom contains both a shower and a sunken bath; and its sheltered veranda offers some of the most magnificent views available over the African landscapes below.

There are six tents on either side of the Main Tent, each accessible by a walkway, the furthest of which is approximately a 5 minute walk from the Main Tent. Ashnil Mara Camp is located in the Maasai Mara National Reserve overlooking the Mara River, famous for the wildebeest migration. Each luxury tent has a wooden deck overlooking the plains and wildlife in the reserve. The bed is draped in mosquito nets and the private bathroom includes a shower with free toiletries.

Angama Mara | mara

Angama Mara`s architecturally dramatic guest areas were inspired by Nairobi`s Muthaiga Club, built in 1917 and famously featured in the movie Out of Africa. Typical of early colonial design in Africa, the inside of the guest areas become the outside and vice versa.

Agama Mara was designed by Kenya`s King of Canvas with elegant and classical tented suites with an 11-metre wide floor-to-ceiling glass front. Each tent has the same breathtaking view – no one is better than the last – and every day, the sunrise provides guests with early morning theatre as the hot air balloons float gently by.

Highly polished parquet floors, distinctive splashes of Maasai red, a handsome drinks cabinet (with personal bar and safe tactfully tucked away), vanity with double basins, writing desk with ample charging points and tablet with guest information, Wi - Fi, Africology guest amenities, a collection of East African books, a beautiful John Vogel woven screen, and a butler`s lobby allowing for the discreet delivery of early morning tea and coffee, all add to the comfort and delight of guests in their suites.

Governors Camp | mara

Governors` Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, it`s waters teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile, in the heart of Kenya`s Masai Mara National Reserve.

It was the first permanent tented camp in the Masai Mara and it occupies the best wildlife viewing location in the National Park. The location of the camp was considered so good that during colonial times it was reserved for the Colonial Governor hence the name Governors` Camp. Today the camp enjoys the same prime location and is perfect for couples, families and friends wanting to experience the best of what a safari in the Masai Mara has to offer.

The tents are on riverbank, tucked into the forest they enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. Created in 1972 Governors` Camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it`s still Africa’s best.

Spacious luxurious safari tents entirely under canvas, each with private verandah. En-suite bathrooms with shower, basin, flush toilet and hot and cold running water. We also have family tents available for close groups or those with those traveling with young children.

 
Fairmont Mara Safari Club | mara

Your base for the adventure is the Mara Safari Club, which lies in the north west of the Masai Mara, at the foot of the Aitong Hills. The camp is positioned on an ox-bow of the Mara River, so that all en-suite tents have a view of the hippo-filled river. The lodge is surrounded by well-cultivated gardens dotted among indigenous trees.

The well-appointed Mara Safari Club is set by the Mara River at the foot of the Aitong Hills in the Ol-Choro Oiroua Conservation Area that borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Mara region of Kenya is not readily accessible by private car. Il Moran Tented Camp | mara

The Camp is situated in a prime area of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The Musiara Marsh area renowned for its outstanding game viewing is where both the BBC "Big Cat Diaries" and Disney`s "African Cats" were filmed. You are assured of an excellent game viewing experience. During the annual migration, various crossing points are easily accessible from Sentinel.

The camp itself is set up along the Mara River with wonderful bird life and the private and natural setting ensures that guests have a most enjoyable and authentic experience of the bush. Being on high banks above the Mara River means that there are always hippo and crocodile in the river below to be seen with other animals coming to drink,or cross the river at times.

 
Mara Leisure Camp | mara

Set in what is considered Kenya`s prime wildlife area, Mara Leisure Camp is located along the Talek River, at the confluence of the Masai Mara`s four wildlife viewing areas, on the northern boundary of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Mara Leisure Camp is located within one of the most spectacular locations in the entire Masai Mara Game Reserve.

One of the most exciting spectacles in the world is that of the `Great Migration`, where two million wildebeest, zebras and other herbivores pass through the Masai Mara - Serengeti ecosystem in Kenya and Tanzania. This is a perilous migration for the animals, where they encounter many river crossings, and have to run the gauntlet of crocodiles in waiting.

A variety of accommodation is available at Mara Leisure Camp. We offer tents suitable for families, as well as individuals. We even have cottages for those of you who don`t want canvas walls.

 
Fig Tree Camp | mara

Our luxury tented rooms are furnished with all the amenities that you will require for a comfortable stay whilst visiting the Maasai Mara. The rooms can be converted into doubles, singles or triples depending on the bookings. Our family tent is spacious, and it can accommodate a group of between 4 and 6 guests. All our tents have both cold and hot running water for showers. The tents are furnished with a wash basin, toilet, luggage rack, reading table, mosquito nets and comfy safari chairs to experience the amazing views from the verandah.

The camp has two comfy lounges with the main lounge having an adjoined bar. Here you may share the day's stories with your hosts or other guests. During the day the lounges have the best view of the plains of the expansive Maasai Mara and perhaps you may be lucky to capture the actions from some of our resident wildlife.

We have three dining areas to offer you a once in a life time dining experience in the bush. Our main indoor dining area is mostly used when the weather is not suitable for outdoor dining under our shaded area or under the stars dining on our wooded deck.

 
Basecamp Explorer | mara

In an effort to revive the natural habitat Basecamp has planted about 115,000 indigenous trees around the Talek River. Consequently, this has turned into a tree lover’s paradise and a haven for birdlife. Each morning a symphony of birdsong will wake you up as the sun rises over the world-renowned Maasai Mara National Park, home to the greatest gathering of wild animals on the planet. Maasai Mara is only a short walk away across our private suspension bridge.Not far from the camp you will find the thriving village of Talek, whose community has been a close partner of Basecamp since the beginning. In and around Talek you will encounter authentic rural life, with all its mesmerizing vibrancy and cultural components. In the surrounding areas, Basecamp has initiated several community programmes with the aim of empowering local people through capacity building, awareness raising, and vocational training. While staying at Base Camp Mara guests are encouraged to visit the handicraft centre located next to reception, and to plant a tree in our tree plantation.

All tents are built along the banks of the Talek River, the natural border to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The dense riverbed foliage allows for maximum privacy and comfort, without compromising the view of the Masai Mara National Reserve. With more than 286 identified bird species, you are certain to wake to a symphony of birdsong while staying at Basecamp Masai Mara.

All tents are fitted with bio-flush toilets, solar-heated safari showers, and a private balcony, where you have the direct view of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
